You Are Not Alone In This

Does any of this feel familiar

Your heart races and your mind empties the moment attention turns to you.

You have valuable points in meetings, yet you stay silent and regret it after.

You rehearse for hours, then still feel you fell short of what you know.

You avoid presenting, speaking up or putting yourself forward when you can.

You know your business needs you to be visible online, and something keeps holding you back.

You watch less capable people be heard while your ideas go unspoken.

These are not flaws in who you are. They are learned responses, and what is learned can be unlearned.

Confidence is not something you wait to feel before you speak. It is built through the courage to act, again and again, until your voice becomes your own.

Lisa Grogan

Confidence, especially around public speaking, is not a character trait. It is a skill that can be taught, and that is exactly what I can teach you.

The ABC Method

A grounded path from holding back to speaking up

Rooted in neuroscience and behavioural psychology, my framework reverses the usual thinking. You do not need to feel confident first. Confidence is the result, not the starting point.

A

Action

We start with small, deliberate action, before you feel ready. Waiting for confidence keeps you stuck. Movement is what breaks the pattern.

B

Behaviour

Repeated action becomes new behaviour. Your nervous system gathers real evidence that you are safe to be seen and heard.

C

Confidence

Confidence is the outcome of that evidence. It becomes your new conditioning, steady and earned rather than performed.

My Story

I understand this from the inside

For twenty years I worked in corporate and ran private clinics, and for part of that time I was managing a leading medical device company. Public speaking was part of the role, and it crippled me with anxiety. It held me back so much that I was ready to walk away from my dream job.

That was the moment I had to decide. Face the fear and do something about it, or take a step back and let it shape the rest of my life. Thankfully I chose to do something. I did the work. I went to hypnotherapists, psychologists and coaches, I trained as an NLP Master and I took public speaking courses. I tried all of it, and I am glad to say I came out the other side.

So I understand this fear from the inside. I used to cry with the anxiety of it. I went mute in meetings. I was not showing anything close to my full potential, and it frustrated me every single day. I know exactly how it feels.

Everything that helped me, I went on to qualify in, Psychology, Neuroscience Coaching, Executive Coaching, Neuro Hypnotherapy, NLP Master and Somatic Person Centred Therapy, which focuses on the nervous system and how to regulate it, so you do not have to piece it together across several people the way I did. It is a powerful combination, and honestly, if I could do it, anyone can. Today I run my own business, speak internationally, run full day workshops and speak at conferences, and I have just finished a speaking tour across the UK and Ireland. Now my mission is to help you get there too, whether that is becoming visible in your business, finding your voice at work, or simply feeling confident when you speak.

Your voice deserves to be heard.

My Signature Framework

The LENS Method™

Confidence does not live in one place, so we do not work on only one. The LENS Method is my four dimensional model of human performance. Most people work on the surface alone. Lasting change comes from all four together.

L

Logical

The words, structure and strategy. What you want to say, and how you shape it with clarity so your message lands.

E

Emotional

Your energy and state, and the biology beneath it. Learning to regulate your nervous system so nerves settle instead of taking over.

N

Neurological

The mindset, identity and subconscious beliefs beneath how you show up. This is where lasting change is quietly wired in.

S

Social

The rooms, relationships and audiences you speak into, and how you hold a calm, grounded presence within them.

In Their Words

I achieved more in one month working with Lisa than in the seven months before. I was so stuck I could not contact potential clients for fear of rejection. I was seriously worried about the business. I knew visibility was the answer, but I just couldn't take that step, until I worked with Lisa.

Coaching client

I've always been comfortable behind the camera, focusing on my clients, but starting my own business made me realise I needed to step in front of it. Something held me back and I couldn't figure out what. During one of Lisa's webinars I recognised a mental block I hadn't even realised I had. I booked a discovery call, and by the time our session ended I felt ready to record my first video, and I actually did it. Lisa created such a supportive space that I pushed past my hesitation in a way I never thought possible. If you are feeling stuck, I highly recommend reaching out to her.

Lisa Grogan Coaching emblem About Lisa Grogan

A Leadership and Business Consultant who blends two decades in high performing environments with a deep grounding in the psychology and neuroscience of human performance.

I am qualified in Psychology, Executive Leadership, Corporate Wellness and Neuroscience Coaching, Neuro Linguistic Programming as an NLP Master, and Neuro Hypnotherapy, and I am somatically trained in Somatic Person Centred Therapy, which works directly with the nervous system and how to regulate it. My work is practical, supportive and grounded in evidence. Together we quiet the inner critic, rewire the patterns beneath the anxiety, and learn to regulate your nervous system so you stay calm under pressure rather than hijacked by it. That is how we build the steady, grounded authority that lets your voice be heard, whether that is in a boardroom, on a stage or across your own audience online.

Common Questions

Fear of public speaking, answered

What is glossophobia, or the fear of public speaking?

Glossophobia is the fear of speaking in front of others. Your nervous system reacts as though being watched is a threat, even when you know logically that you are safe. It can appear as panic before a presentation, or as quietly avoiding meetings, pitches, interviews and video calls. It is one of the most common forms of anxiety, and it responds very well to the right work.

Why do I feel so anxious when I speak in public?

The fear is rarely about the words themselves. It is about being seen, and the possibility of being judged. Beneath it sits a pattern in the body and a set of beliefs you hold about yourself. It is a learned response rather than a fact about your ability, which is exactly why it can be changed.

How common is the fear of public speaking?

Very common. Research suggests around three quarters of people feel some degree of anxiety around speaking in public, and it consistently ranks among the fears people report most. If this is you, you are firmly in the majority, not the exception.

Can the fear of public speaking be overcome?

Yes. Confidence around speaking is a skill, not a fixed character trait. Working across your thinking, your physiology and the beliefs beneath them, the fear steadily loses its grip and a calmer, more grounded presence takes its place.

Why does my mind go blank when everyone is looking at me?

That blank is your nervous system shifting into a stress response. When the body senses pressure, it draws energy away from the clear thinking you need most. Learning to regulate that response, rather than fight it, is one of the first things we work on together.

Do I need to feel confident before I can speak up?

No, and waiting to feel ready is what keeps most people stuck. Confidence follows action, it does not come before it. We start with small, manageable steps so your brain gathers real evidence that you are safe to be seen and heard.

How do I calm my nerves before a presentation?

Nerves tend to peak just before you begin and settle once you are speaking. Simple, practised tools for regulating your breathing and your state make a genuine difference, and we build these together so they are ready the moment you need them.

Still wondering whether this is right for you. Book a discovery call and let us talk it through.
